30 June, 2020<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0AREWA24, the leading Hausa language entertainment and lifestyle television channel and production studio in Nigeria and West Africa, announces a major slate of new and exciting shows to coincide with the company\u2019s sixth anniversary.\u00a0\u00a0Since its launch in 2014, AREWA24 has consistently produced high-quality programming that provides an authentic Northern Nigerian voice for its audiences and reflects the region\u2019s pride in local culture, arts and lifestyle for Hausa speaking families everywhere.<\/p>\n

AREWA24 will debut a gripping new drama series, \u201cLabarina,\u201d from the well-known and highly respected Hausa director, Aminu Saira, beginning in July.\u00a0 Additionally, viewers will be treated to a new Season-2 of the popular hit comedy series, \u201cGidan Badamasi.\u201d\u00a0 The network will also premier all new episodes of the longest-running drama series in Northern Nigeria, \u201cDadin Kowa\u201d and AREWA24\u2019s other blockbuster hit drama series, \u201c90 Days.\u201d AREWA24 continues to air the most recent and popular Kannywood movies and has licensed a collection of new movie titles that will be rolled out in the weeks and months ahead.<\/p>\n

In the important children\u2019s and youth categories, AREWA24 has teamed up with the iconic children\u2019s show, Sesame Street, to present a Nigerian version of the show, \u201cDandalin Sesame,\u201d featuring all of the show\u2019s lovable characters, but in a Nigerian cultural context and all in Hausa.\u00a0 AREWA24 will also debut a new and highly-acclaimed kids\u2019 educational show, \u201cAkili and Me,\u201d from the same producers as the popular youth show, Ubongo Kids, which currently airs on AREWA24.\u00a0 Rounding out the slate of new youth shows are \u201cMy Better World,\u201d\u00a0an\u00a0animated series<\/strong>\u00a0that follows the exciting adventures of six African teens as they navigate the complex challenges of school, family and friendship, and \u201cThe 77%\u201d, a gritty, street-relevant youth magazine show about the 77% of Africans who are under the age of 35 and who will be shaping the Continent\u2019s future.<\/p>\n
